Does it have to fit a certain theme?

No. Feel free to create and explore your own individual theme(s). We want to project YOUR story!

Do I have to live in Chicago in order to submit?

Yes! At this time, we are focused on providing this outlet and opportunity for Chicago teens.

Can I make my own cover art?

Cover at is a collaborative process. Authors will be able to work with artists to develop and select the cover art that best represnts their work.

Will the books be sold?

Yes! Revolving Door Arts manages the sale of books.

Do I get a profit?

Yes! Authors will be provided a percentage of the net sales.

Can I submit more than once?

You can submit one manuscript per genre. Only one submission is allowed if you are submitting a hybrid mansucript.

Can I curse?

We know you curse. Period. We don’t want to censor you. Therefore, feel free to curse, but let’s be artists and think about cursing artistically and with creative purpose. However, please be aware that we will not support or publish any work that is racist, misogynist, homophobic, gender bias, or otherwise offensive and derogatory towards others.

This is great! What else do I get?

While publishing your own books is great in itself, there are many other opportunities that can come along as result of being a Teen Chapbook Series author such as: interviews, readings, and possibly presenting at conferences across the country, and more. These are not guaranteed, but are very likely.

I have other questions that aren't represented here.

That's perfectly fine! Email us at info@revolvingdoorarts.org. We look forward to reading your work!
